We spent most of the day at, get this Puuhonua O Honaunau nat. Historic park. That is a mouthful. This was a lovely combination of beautiful land, magical blue ocean, tide pools with sea turtle having breakfast, anthropological recreations of sacred buildings and original stone work hundreds of years old.
Below a out rigger canoe.

Below statues to protect the temple.

We also visited the painted church in the middle of the day. Built 1899 and painted by the original priest who was stranded on the island by yellow fever and used the paintings to teach the bible stories. The front is a facade. It is a replica of a cathedral in Spain.

Back to the park for a hike along the original trail built by the Hawaiian natives to circumnavigate the island. Here Chris poses in front of a goat pen.

This wall is a masterpiece of jigsaw pieces some weighing tons. Held together for 500 years with no mortar.

The original pond for raising fish.

We played a round of konana. A game like checkers without all the chasing around. 50 lava stones/50 pieces of coral. The game is won not by the number of pieces captured but by having the last move. The strategy is to prevent yourself fine being hedged in. The winner of our match is shown below.

Chris finds true love- chocolate and coconut covered dry sweet banana.
Our produce and coffee man. Very sweet. We got to try all sorts of new and delicious things.
Our Hotel. Where we also had dinner. This restaurant is 99 years old and boasts the original restaurant on the island.
