We made it through lake hickory and lake lookout sholes. Two portages today. One at Oxford dam and one at lookout sholes where there was no official portage but we came across an amazing couple, Dan and Desiree with pup Rufus. They pointed us in the right direction and then came back to help us carry boats and directed us to safe camping. The portage was a steep downhill event through 7 foot high kudzu. What wonderful folks.
Chris saw a family of river otters on the bank and Joseph and Chris saw an osprey with fish in talons.
We finished the day by passing under the I40 overpass. We were hoping Chris Frye might be there tossing off cold soda. Alas we could not find him.
