Finally cut ourselves loose of the comfort of Clover. Many thanks again to the Harrison family for taking us in. Carl our trusty driver was left stranded with a broken starter as we paddled away. We are looking forward to seeing him again down river.
We resumed our paddle just below the lake Wylie dam. We made great time in the current. This section of the river was quite the naturalist spot. We saw 3 bald eagles, a gar and a muskrat. There was also an unexplained geyser of possibly gas or steam that was released into the water about 200 feet in front of us. It was beyond startling as if the water came to a sudden 4 foot tall boil.
The river was surprisingly busy with big rocks that we were dodging like asteroids in Empire Strikes Back. There were also some fun little rapids. All in all a fun river ride.
We had our first camp storm. Decent thunder / lightening event just as we pulled into camp.
Many happy birthday wishes to Rachel Horn. Party extra hard for us.
Milage totals: day 19, trip 172

Glad u guys had a good day, Yes the river will "burp" gas, and in some of the oddest places, just like the ocean does, good thing u were not on top of that gas burp, with the boat, or u would of lost all buoyancy and went straight to the bottom. It happens to ships on the ocean quite frequently, and is the cause of many large ships disappearing , only to be found at the bottom of the sea many years later.
